Ok, so this is the absolute LAST baby picture from this week I’ll post. I saved it for last, even though it was one of the first ones I took, because it’s my favorite. A quick setup. They removed Lucy from my wife, and handed her right too me. In the absolute chaos of the operating room, that moment was surprisingly calming. My wife is lying there bleeding, with he uterus pretty much entirely out of her body. There are nurses and doctors zooming around everywhere, and I hadn’t slept in almost three days. And then, I am standing in the middle, holding this kiddo. Pretty surreal. After that, they grabbed her and put some medicine in her eyes to prevent infection, weighed her, and gave her her first shot. It was at that exact moment, she grabbed my finger with her tiny hand. So, years later I can look back and tell her with proof that I’ve always been there for her. Here is to new beginnings. Happy holidays to you all, and much love. -B-
